God gives good eyesight

Hi Everyone! This is Bjorn.

I would like to tell you about a hunting trip.

Lars, Dad, and I went to hunting camp. We left on Thursday morning and we got there around 2:00 in the afternoon. We unloaded the truck, started a fire in the woodstove, put on plaid shirts and jeans and went to the Main Farm. Dad's note: the majority of the hunting takes place on the Main Farm which is a working dairy farm in Worcester and Decatur New York. Back to Bjorn: We brought the Polaris 500 ATV with us to scout the farm and put up a tree stand for future hunting. We went back up to the truck, got another blind, and went back across the creek and pretty far away. This is where we set up the blind for the hunt on Friday. We went back up to the truck and parked the ATV at the Main Farm. Back to hunting camp for supper and hunting shows on TV. It got pretty dark so we went to bed.

Friday morning, we woke at 5:00 and ate oatmeal for breakfast, got dressed for hunting, and headed for the Main Farm. Lars hunted for deer. Dad and I hunted for turkeys. We saw nothing. Back to hunting camp for lunch and rest. At 3:00 we headed back to the Main Farm. Lars thinks he saw 3 turkeys but they were too far away. When Dad and I got out of the blind Dad saw a deer behind us but the deer ran away. Back up to the ATV and back up to the truck and back to camp. We had sandwiches to eat and watched an African hunting show where a man shot an elephant with a bow - the bow had a 90 pound draw! Crazy.

Saturday morning was oatmeal and hot chocolate for breakfast at 4:30 am. (Mom says wow.) When we got into our blind we heard coyotes howling - sounded like 2 packs. (Mom says yikes.) Our morning hunt was unsuccessful so we went back to hunting camp for lunch and rest. Got up at about 3:00 in the afternoon, got dressed and ready and headed to the Tower Farm for the second hunt of the day. Martha's note: the Tower Farm is only used for planting corn. It has a radio tower on it. Back to Bjorn. At about 5:00 I spotted a deer. God gives good eyesight! About 2 minutes later, Dad spotted a doe - a really nice one. Dad's deer got spooked by something and trotted off but my deer was still there. We waited until my deer got broadside and Lars shot. He hit the deer right in the shoulder and it dropped in its tracks. It was about 120 yards away. We went up there and realized that it was a button buck. It was awesome. We gutted it out right there and Dad brought the truck to carry the deer back up to camp. We skinned it and took the meat off and after bisketti and hot Italian and sweet Italian sausage in the sauce we went to bed.

Sunday morning we woke up and we ate eggs, sausage and toast. We packed up the truck, went to the Main Farm to pick up the ATV, and went home.
